The goal of the Long Term Services and Support (LTSS) Unit of Nevada Medicaid is to support those individuals who need ongoing care due to age, physical or intellectual disability or chronic illness. Comprehensive services are delivered in a home and community based settings or long term care facility depending upon the needs and preferences of the individual.
Home and Community Based Services
The following are services that Nevada Medicaid offers to qualifying individuals to remain in their home or least restrictive environment.
1915(c) Waivers
Within broad Federal guidelines, States can develop home and community-based services waivers (HCBS Waivers) to meet the needs of people who prefer to get long-term care services and supports in their home or community, rather than in an institutional setting. More information about 1915(c) wavier can be found on Home & Community-Based Services 1915(c) | Medicaid.
Nevada currently offers the following 1915(c) Waivers:
1915(i) HCBS State Plan Option
States can offer a variety of services under a State Plan Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) benefit. People must meet state-defined criteria based on need and typically get a combination of acute-care medical services (like dental services, skilled nursing services) and long-term services (like respite, case management, supported employment and environmental modifications) in home and community-based settings.
Clinical Home Care Services
In addition to PCS, and the 1915 authorities, Nevada Medicaid also offers community based services for recipients with a skilled intervention need.
