Nevada Medicaid covers certain standard medical equipment that meets the basic medical need of the recipient. All DMEPOS products and services must be medically necessary, safe and appropriate for the course and severity of the condition, using the least costly and equally effective alternative to meet the medical need. Items or usage classified as educational, rehabilitative by nature, experimental or investigational are not covered. DMEPOS is equipment which can withstand repeated use, is primarily and customarily used to serve a medical purpose and generally are useful to a person when they are ill or injured and are appropriate for use in the home. Some items may be subject to prior authorization requirements or quantity limitations. Products must have received approval from the federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
