In July 2024, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) finalized the Ensuring Access and Eligibility in Medicaid rule, renaming and expanding the state's Medical Care Advisory Committee (MCAC) to the Medicaid Advisory Committee (MAC) and creating a new Beneficiary Advisory Council (BAC).

Committee Background

The Medicaid Advisory Committee (MAC) advises the State Medicaid Director on policy development and Medicaid program administration. It includes stakeholders like Medicaid staff, providers, managed care plans, patient advocates, and Beneficiary Advisory Council (BAC) members who share lived experience. To address health-related social needs, the committee also includes representatives from Department of Human Services (DHS) sister agencies. The MAC is managed by the Nevada Health Authority (NVHA) as outlined in Nevada Revised Statute (NRS) 422.151 to 422.155 and is being updated during the 83rd (2025) legislative session to comply with updates made to CFR 431.12.

The MAC meets quarterly; the next meeting is scheduled for November 10th, 2025.
