Waiver for Persons with Physical Disabilities Renewal Application to CMS


The Waiver for Persons with Physical Disabilities will expire on December 26, 2017. The State must submit the HCBS Waiver renewal to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) no later than September 27, 2017. 

Services under this waiver will remain the same, however, the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) became the operating agency as of July 1, 2015, the State is consolidating the review process with other services, there is a new focus on person centered planning, an allowance for different methods of signature on program documents, recipient self direction of Attendant Care, Chore, Respite, and Homemaker Services has been added, another level of priority has been added to the waitlist based upon the assessed level of need, the new CMS rules for Home and Community Based Settings have been addressed, and the DHCFP will accept the training and monitoring of training for personal care attendants that is required by the Department of Public and Behavioral Health (DPBH) as sufficient.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requires that states obtain public input for a waiver renewal in accordance with 42 CFR 441.304(f). The Division of Health Care Financing and Policy (DHCFP) requests public comment regarding the waiver renewal.
