Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility for Medicaid through the HIWA program is determined by the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services.

You Must:

  • Be a Nevada Resident
  • Be between the age of 16 and 64
  • Have a disability that meets the Social Security Administrations disability criteria
  • Be employed or self employed
  • Pay a month premium to buy into Medicaid

General Eligibility Information

  • Only the income and resources of the applicant or participant is considered when determining eligibility.
  • The applicant or participant must pass income and resource eligibility tests established by the State of Nevada.
  • The applicant or participant can not be eligible for any other Medicaid eligibility category except Special Low Income Medicare Beneficiary (SLMB) and Qualified Medicare Beneficiaries (QMB).
